My Big idea is communication, specifically the communication between politics and science. Why communication? In my opinion, being able to communicate effectively is one of the essential life skills to learn. Strong communication skills support us in all aspects of our professional and personal life. My challenge is to try to improve communication between politics and science. |
During my research I made several conclusions: • To make the right decisions politicians often ask experts to advise them. The expert’s function can vary between having an explicit engagement of decision alternatives or serving as an information resource. • Both politicians and scientists agreed that collaboration works best when there is direct communication in place for example through an individual dialogue at an eye-to-eye level. |
I think the best solution to this problem is to enable that dialogue. My approach is creating this online platform through which scientists and politicians can meet and discuss their work and challenges, find solutions and share them with other interested people to get direct feedback and work on improvement. |
